PCTCP your biggest problem. I have been working with FTP Inc. on and off
for about 8 months now and it is almost fixed (with respect to wftpd [and
qnvtws and txtsrv]). Apparently there is a vague area in the Winsock Spec.
and FTP has interpreted it differently than Alun (and Trumpet Winsock).
You should get the latest winsock.dll from ftp.ftp.com and see about
upgrading to 2.31 or the kernel. This setup works about 90% of the time for
me. I get "...peer reset connection..." type errors when a directory
listing is over about 40 lines and it crashes every once and again.
I have no problem when I try Trumpet Winsock, and now I am trying the
Daytona Beta TCP with Windows for Workgroups... WFTPD works fine, but I
can't seem to telnet or FTP locally. I think it is a broadcast address
problem, but that is not a setable parameter - Anyone care to help? :)
Anyway, hope this helps. Send me mail directly for more info. (this goes
for everyone).
In the mean time, I keep checking with FTP for the newest winsock.dll so
that sometime soon I may be able to switch back to PCTCP (if Chicago or
Linux doesn't hit my box first)

Hmm - I tried it briefly myself and couldn't get it to work. I left
the ip address as 0.0.0.0 and when I tried to connect Chameleon
complained about the address.
Are there any other Shareware TCP/IP sockets for Windows that
support PPP?

Ok. My machine is a DX2-66 EISA/VLBus board with the previously mentioned
64MB of memory. I knew there must have been a reason why I specifically
requested an EISA/VLBus board rather than an ISA board. So I shouldn't
expect the memory limitation problem? I haven't had one yet.
Actually I *have* had one. The 32-bit Turbo Debugger TDH386.SYS driver
doesn't install properly (the one from Borland). They told me once that
it was becauseI hade too much memory and suggested I eat 48MB in a
ramdrive or remove it all together. Never got around to trying this. Does
it sound related?
